coaching
As a coach, you bear the responsibility for players and parents during both training sessions and games. Below is a set of expectations that coaches are expected to uphold:
Attire:
- Coaches must wear the club-supplied coach’s polo during training and games. This ensures easy identification by players, parents, WBA, Corpus Basketball club officials, and fellow coaches.
Communication:
- Keep parents and players informed and updated about game schedules and any changes (team manager assistance may be utilized).
- Maintain transparency regarding training times and any schedule alterations.
Player Wellbeing:
- Prioritize the physical and emotional well-being of players during training and games, offering support for injuries and emotional needs.
Dress Code:
- Ensure that players are dressed appropriately in basketball attire, including shorts, t-shirts/singlets, and sneakers.
- Monitor that players refrain from wearing inappropriate attire such as earrings, necklaces, watches, etc.
Playing Time:
- Manage playing time fairly and provide equal opportunities to all players.
Inclusion:
- Promote inclusivity by involving the entire team, regardless of age, gender, race, or physical appearance.
Professional Conduct:
- Interact professionally with fellow club coaches, players, and parents.
- Encourage fair play and sportsmanship among teammates and opponents.
Respect for Officials:
- Display professional behaviour towards all officials at all times, adhering to the Code of Conduct.
- Mentor and motivate players to show respect to officials during and after games.
Parental Behaviour:
- Encourage parents to support players only and to refrain from making offensive comments towards officials. Such behavior will not be tolerated for any reason.
Reporting Behavioural Issues:
- Report any behavioural problems exhibited by parents and spectators to the Corpus Committee.
Respect for All:
- Treat all players, parents, and officials with respect and expect the same from players, parents, and officials.
Equipment:
- Handle all Corpus equipment properly and report any missing or damaged items to the Coach’s Coordinator (Stephan Wattelet at 0409 696 253).
Skill Development:
- Focus on teaching and developing new skills during training, utilizing the provided booklet of drills.
Application of Skills:
- Encourage all players to apply the skills learned during training in game situations and promote teamwork.
